Ricardo Lemvo graduated with me in '74. He came to LHS our junior year
from Zaire, speaking no english, only French. Back then we called him
Richard pronounced Rea-shard. Besides the fact Ricardo was from Africa,
initially spoke only French and was a very nice guy, many people
remember Richardo for his game winning field goal against Lennox in the
pouring rain. He was our knight in shining armor, trotting out onto a
very muddy field, both teams covered in mud and here comes Rea-shard,
stark white uniform, kicks the ball through the uprights....Lawndale
wins!!!!
I reconnected with Ricardo at our 20 year reunion. David and I went to
hear his band play and fell in love with the music. He and David became
fast friends and our daughter Rachel dances to the music of her Tio
Ricardo. This Friday, 5/7, Ricardo and his band Makina Loca will be
playing at the Eisenhower Theater in the Kennedy Center in Washington and
we'll be there dancing and having a grand ol' time!
Anyway, check out the site. I think a lot of people will be happy to
rediscover Ricardo Lemvo!
